Newton House, a mansion in Crawford parish, Lanarkshire, near the right bank of the Clyde, opposite Elvanfoot station, with which it is connected by an elegant three-arch bridge (1824). It was built by Alexander Irving, Lord Newton (1760-1832), a senator of the college of justice, and was the residence of the antiquary, George Vere Irving, Esq., who died in 1869.Ord.
