Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Amondell or Almonddale

Amondell or Almonddale, the seat of the Earl of Buchan, in Uphall parish, SE Linlithgowshire, stands on the left bank of the Almond, 1½ mile NE of Midcalder. From 1812 till his death here on 8 Oct. 1817, it was the residence of the Hon. Henry Erskine, Lord Advocate of Scotland in 1783 and 1806.
