RYEDALE, a wapentake in N. R. Yorkshire; taking name from the valley of the Rye, and containing 16 parishes, and parts of 4 others. Acres, 127, 520. Pop. in 1851, 11, 381; in 1861, 19, 834. Houses, 4,047.
