COCKEN, a township in Houghton-le-Spring parish, Durham; on the river Wear, 3½ miles NNE of Durham. Acres, 437. Real property, £660. Pop., 77. Houses, 14. Cocken Hall is a romantically situated residence, almost surrounded by the Wear.
