The manor, with Kingston House, belongs to W. P. Gorringe, Esq. Two corn warehouses, large malting houses, railway coke ovens, a ship building yard, bonding warehouses, ponds and quays are here; and a large traffic goes on between the railway station and the harbour. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chichester. Value, 280.* Patron, Lord Leconfield. The church is of the 13th century, but has been completely renovated.
