In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Knockando like this:

Knockando, par., SE. Elginshire, 28,134 ac., pop. 1838; P.O.; the church is on Knockando Burn, 6½ miles SW. of Craigellachie; in the churchyard are 3 sculptured stones; 1 mile SE., near river Spey and Carron sta., is Kuockando House.
