Guide to Census Reports

This guide, published in 1977 by the predecessor of today's Office of National Statistics, outlines the history of the census and describes how coverage of various topics has developed.

We present to you the text of the Guide essentially as it originally appeared. However, the printed Guide also includes lengthy lists describing the content of particular tables. These are not included here, but instead we will be including hyperlinks direct to the reports and tables mentioned by the Guide, where we hold them.
