Hillend, a village in Shotts parish, E Lanarkshire, 5 miles ENE of Airdrie. Hillend Reservoir, on the mutual border of Shotts and New Monkland parishes, is traversed by the North Calder, and has an utmost length and breadth of 10½ and 4¾ furlongs.—Ord. Sur., sh. 31, 1867.
