Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Stenhousemuir

Stenhousemuir, a small town in Larbert parish, Stirlingshire, 3 furlongs NE of Larbert station, and 3 miles NNW of Falkirk. It presents an orderly and pleasant appearance; consists chiefly of one-story and two-story houses, many of them with gardens attached; has a post office, with money order, savings' bank, and telegraph departments, a branch of the Royal Bank, a public hall, a Free church, and a public school; and adjoins the large common on which the Falkirk trysts have been held since 1785.
