Naas, market and assize town, par., and township, E. co. Kildare, on a branch of the Grand Canal, 2 miles S. of Sallins ry. sta. and 20 miles SW. of Dublin - par., 5526 ac., pop. 4077; township, 4541 ac., pop. 3808; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks, 2 newspapers. Market-days, Monday and Thursday. Naas has a fine military barrack. It was the seat of the kings of Leinster, and at one time possessed a castle and 3 monasteries.
