Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Rey (or Rere) Cross

Rey (or Rere) Cross, base of ancient cross, within Roman camp, on Stainmoor, North-Riding Yorkshire, near border of co., 5 miles W. of Bowes; is supposed to have been erected by William the Conqueror and Malcolm of Scotland to mark the boundary of their territories.
