Whatton, par. and vil., Notts - par., 3100 ac. (including Aslockton), pop. 283; vil., on river Smite, 2½ miles E. of Bingham; P.O.; in vicinity of vil. is Whatton Manor House, seat. The church is ancient. Archbishop Cranmer (1489-1536) was a native.
