Clontarf, town, par., and township, in co. and 3 miles NE. of Dublin -- par., 1310 ac., pop. 2804; township, 1295 ac., pop. 4210; P.O. The town is situated on the N. shore of Dublin Bay, and is much frequented for sea-bathing. At C. was fought (1014) a famous battle, in which King Brian Boru defeated the Danes.
