Cloyne, market town and par., SE. co. Cork, 5 miles S. of Middleton ry. sta.-par., 9969 ac., pop. 3204; town, pop. 1126; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Market-day, Thursday; has mfrs. of boots and shoes. The diocese of Cloyne was united to Cork in 1835. The cathedral contains several ancient monuments; adjoining it is a round tower, 10 ft. in diameter and 90 ft. high.
