Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Coll

Coll.-- island, forming par. of same name, Argyllshire, 9½ miles W. of Ardnamurchan Point and 57½ miles from Oban, 18,321 ac., pop. 643; P.O.; is 13 miles long and 5 miles broad. Black cattle, sheep, and pigs are reared and exported, and some fishing is carried on. There are vestiges of several Danish forts.
