Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Upavon (or Uphaven)

Upavon (or Uphaven), par. and vil., Wilts, on river Avon, 4 miles SW. of Pewsey and 9 SE. of Devizes, 3329 ac., pop. 484; P.O.; was formerly a market town, and had a priory founded in time of Henry I.; Upavon Hill has traces of an ancient camp.
