Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Benbecula

Benbecula, one of the Hebridean islands, included in South Uist par., Inverness-shire, pop. 1661. It lies between North and South Uist, measures about 6 or 7 miles each way, and has a sandy and unproductive soil.
