Kirkby Moorside, market town, par., and township, with ry. sta. (Kirby Moorside), North-Riding Yorkshire, on river Dove, 6½ miles NW. of Pickering-- par., 13,527 ac., pop. 2575; township, 4506 ac., pop. 1843; P.O., T.O., called Kirby Moorside; 2 Banks. Market-day, Wcdnesday. The town is the centre of an agricultural district, and has mfrs. of agricultural implements, brewing, malting, rope-making, iron and brass founding, &c.
