It forms the part of the county N of Cumrew fell, and all thence E and N of the river Eden; contains twenty parishes and parts of three others; measures 27 miles northward, and 19 eastward; and comprises 182, 344 acres. Pop. in 1851, 21, 019; in 1861, 25, 605. Houses, 4, 853.
