RODING (The), a river of Essex; rising 2½ miles NWof Great Dunmow; and running about 30 miles south-ward and south-south-westward, past the Roothings, Ongar, Navestock, Abridge, Chigwell, Wood ford, Ilford, and Barking, to the Thames, 2 miles S E of East Ham.
