Descriptive gazetteer entries

In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Colwyn Bay like this:

Colwyn Bay, watering-place with ry. sta., Denbighshire, 6 miles W. of Abergele and 219 NW. of London; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank; is situated in one of the most beautiful spots in North Wales.

This is the only descriptive gazetter entry we have found, but you may be able to find further references to Colwyn Bay by doing a full-text search here.
