In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Broomhill like this:

BROOMHILL, a parish in the district of Rye and counties of Kent and Sussex; on the coast, near the Ashford and Hastings railway, 4 miles E by S of Rye. Post Town, Rye. Acres, 3,580; of which 755 are water. Pop., 102. Houses, 22. It is a member of the cinque port of New Romney; and has no church.
