In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Ystrad like this:
Ystrad, Llanddewi Brefi par., Cardiganshire, 3 miles SW. of Tregaron. See GARTH AND YSTRAD.
The location is roughly where the word "Ystrad" appears on the OS six inch map of 1891, as part of the name "Garth & Ystrad" (http://www.british-history.ac.uk/mapsheet.aspx?compid=55182&sheetid=1388&ox=3700&oy=866&zm=4&czm=4&x=491&y=270, accessed 16/2/2011). "Garth" appears nearby as the name of a farm, but Ystrad has yet to be found as a place on a topographic map.
