In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Ysgwyn like this:
YSGWYN, a hamlet in Llangathan parish, Carmarthen; 3¼ miles W of Llandilofawr.
The location is where the names "Ysgwyn Fach" and "Ysgwyn Fawr" appear on the modern 1:25,000 map. "Ysgwyn fawr" is also marked, somewhat illegibly, on our 19th century OS First Series map.
