Place:

Cynllwyd  Merionethshire

In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Cynllwyd like this:

CYNLLWYD, a township in Llanuwchyllyn parish, Merioneth; 4¼ miles SW of Bala. It includes the village of Pandy. Real property, £1, 541. Pop., 395.

The location is near the mid-point of the name "Cwm Cynllwyd" on the OS New Popular map, although the name is somewhat strung out and consequently hard to read. The same name appears more compactly just to the north west on the modern 1:25,000 map.
