In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described North Shore like this:
North Shore (Kirkdale), eccl. dist., Walton on the Hill par., Lancashire, within Liverpool city, pop. 19.525.
The location was that of St Paul's church, North Shore, Kirkdale, as listed by Lancashire On-line Parish Clerks (http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Liverpool/Kirkdale; accessed 20 Sept 2011). A map showing the church would be a more reliable location. Additional information about this locality is available for Kirkdale
