STAXTON, a township in Willerby parish, E. R. Yorkshire; 6½ miles SSW of Scarborough. Acres, 1,640. Real property, £1,271. Pop., 307. Houses, 58. The manor belongs to Lord Londesborough. There are chapels for Wesleyans and Primitive Methodists.
