In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Innfield like this:
Innfield, or Enfield, vil. with ry. sta. (Enfield), Rathcore par., S. co. Meath, on Royal Canal, 24 miles W. of Dublin, pop. 274; P.O., T.O., called Enfield.
