nCube definition

In certain years, the Agricultural Census divided the acreage of Permanent Pasture by usage. In 1871, 1891-1901 and 1921-31 it was divided into 'for hay' and 'not for hay'. In 1940-41 it was divided into 'for hay' and 'for grazing'. In 1950-70 it was divided into 'for mowing' and 'for grazing'. 'For hay' is included here with 'for mowing', and 'not for hay' with 'for grazing'. The Scottish Farm Census used some more complex classifications of permanent grass, and in 1961 did not identify 'rotation grasses' but ...

sub-divided grassland into over and under seven years old; these classifications have been mapped to this simpler form.
